French President Emmanuel Macron has issued a scathing message to US President Donald Trump, stating the Iran war conflict requires a "serious" approach and is "not a show".
Speaking in South Korea, Macron said, “When you want to be serious, you don't say every day the opposite of what you said the day before. And maybe you shouldn't be speaking every day.You should just let things quieten down."
Macron's comments represent a strong rebuke from an ally regarding Trump's inconsistent messaging on his objectives in the Iran war.
The criticism also comes after Trump mocked Macron and his wife, Brigitte, on Wednesday, referencing a viral video from last year in which she appeared to shove the French president.
Trump sparked outrage by saying, “I call up France, Macron – whose wife treats him extremely badly... Still recovering from the right to the jaw.”
