British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper said on Tuesday that Britain will bring forward legislation "to implement full and further sanctions and sectoral measures" against Iran.

Speaking in the House of Commons, Cooper said, "Further measures will target finance, energy, transport, software, and other significant industries."

Iran's foreign ministry summoned the envoys of Britain, Germany, France and Italy on Monday after their governments expressed support for protests in the country, the semi-official Tasnim news agency reported.

Protests broke out across Iran late last month. During the meeting, Iranian officials showed the envoys "video evidence of violent acts by rioters," saying the actions went beyond peaceful demonstrations.
