The Kayo Stadium in Redcliffe, Australia, will host the 2027 Women's Softball World Cup Finals, an Olympic Qualifier tournament for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) announced on Tuesday.
Only the winner of the Finals, to be played on April 5-11, 2027, will have a direct berth in the LA28 softball competition. Six softball teams will compete at LA28, including three winners of each qualifying zone of Asia/Oceania, Europe/Africa, and Americas, winners of the 2027 Finals and the Final Qualification Event, as well as the host, the United States.
The organizing committee previously announced Talobilla Park as the venue of the 2027 Finals. The Talobilla Park will serve as the warm-up and training venue of the tournament, WBSC announced.
WBSC also confirmed the Kayo Stadium, which is a rugby league stadium, will be converted into a "purpose-built international softball diamond" to host the event in 2027, enhancing its broadcast capabilities, spectator experience and accessibility.
