The White House revealed today that the Kiev authorities will soon sign an agreement with Washington on its rare metals, in exchange for the money that the United States spends on Ukraine.
US National Security Advisor Mike Waltz expressed his belief in statements that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will sign an agreement on raw materials with the United States, saying, "You will see that very soon, and this is a good thing for Ukraine." Trump had linked his country's aid to Ukraine to the right to access its reserves of rare metals, as these rare metals are considered to be of high economic value and strategic importance, as the United States is demanding 50 percent of the revenues from these raw materials as compensation for its military aid to Kiev so far, while Kiev believes that the agreement is still on the table despite the disagreement between Trump and Zelensky.
European countries see the US president's request to the Kiev authorities as "unjustified" and "illegal", at a time when Washington is considered the largest financial, military and political supporter of Ukraine since the beginning of its war with Russia three years ago.
