Yemen's Houthi group on Wednesday claimed responsibility for an attack on a Dutch-flagged cargo ship in the Gulf of Aden two days ago.

Houthi military spokesman Yahya Sarea said the group attacked Minervagracht with a cruise missile because the ship's owner has dealings with Israel.

Sarea said that Houthis' attacks would continue against Israel and Israel-linked ships in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea until the conflict and blockade in Gaza end.

On Monday, the EU military operation in the Red Sea, the Indian Ocean and the Gulf reported the attack against the vessel about 128 nautical miles southeast of the port of Aden.

The EU military operation said it rescued all 19 crew members from the blazing ship, and two of them were seriously wounded.

The Houthis, who control much of northern Yemen, including the capital Sanaa, have been launching missile and drone attacks on Israel and Israeli-linked ships in the Red Sea since the Gaza conflict broke out in October 2023.
