France today urged the United States and Iran to seize the opportunity to end the current situation in the Middle East and sign a "preliminary" peace agreement.

"We call on both sides to seize this opportunity to end an intolerable situation that only produces losers... This is what I told my Iranian counterpart," said French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barro, noting that he had spoken with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araqchi, earlier in the day about the matter.

He expressed caution about the possibility of something happening, but affirmed that "positive signs are increasing."

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced earlier this evening that a final text of a memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran had been agreed upon, explaining that his country is currently working closely with both parties to finalize the next steps for the desired agreement.
