Former Portugal coach Carlos Queiroz said on Thursday that his new role as Ghana's national head coach is the biggest challenge of his career.
Speaking at his unveiling, the former Real Madrid boss said the job represents the most significant test in his four decades in football, citing high expectations ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
"Since I arrived, I have felt the vibration. I realized the soul of the Black Stars is huge, and as a result, the expectations are huge. This is the biggest challenge of my entire career, and I am ready for that. I can promise that I will bring my forty years of experience to help," Queiroz said.
He expressed confidence that unity would be the key to success.
"I trust that with the support of my staff, the board, and the fans, all united as one Ghana, we can bring success and happiness to the people of Ghana. In simple words, I can say I'm ready, so let's do it together," he added.
Queiroz, who arrived in the West African country on Wednesday, takes charge with less than 50 days before the start of the 2026 World Cup, replacing Otto Addo, who was sacked in March following a pair of friendly defeats to Austria and Germany.
Ghana, making its fifth World Cup appearance, has been drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia and Panama.
