A top Naxal commander has been killed in a fierce gunfight with police in the eastern Indian state of Jharkhand, officials said on Wednesday.
The gunfight broke out Tuesday night in Gumla district, about 71 km southwest of Ranchi, the capital city of Jharkhand.
According to police, the slain commander was carrying a bounty of 1.5 million Indian rupees (17,095 U.S. dollars) on his head. Police claimed the recovery of arms and ammunition from the spot.
