Russia's largest airline posts sharp decline in adjusted earnings in 2025

Russia's largest airline, Aeroflot, said Tuesday its adjusted earnings fell sharply to 11.8 billion rubles (150 million U.S. dollars) in 2025 from 59 billion rubles in 2024.

Despite weak profitability, Aeroflot said its revenue rose 6.7 percent year on year to 760.4 billion rubles in 2025, driven by growth in passenger traffic and a record seat occupancy rate.

Cost of sales increased by 12.1 percent to 749.1 billion rubles. The main factors driving this increase were the company's increased passenger turnover and rising prices for purchased goods and services.

The airline said a significant portion of the cost increase stemmed from the expansion of commercially managed operations, including the transfer of shuttle flights from Aeroflot to Rossiya Airlines and the operation of wet aircraft leases. (1 Russian ruble = 0.013 U.S. dollar)
