WhatsApp Rolls Out Status Caption Editing for Android Beta Users

WhatsApp has begun rolling out a feature that allows Android beta users to edit captions on photo and video status updates after they have been posted, eliminating the need to delete and repost a status to correct mistakes.
The new feature gives users a 15-minute window to edit captions accompanying status updates, making it easier to correct typographical errors or update text without affecting the original photo or video.
According to WABetaInfo, edited captions do not carry an "edited" label, unlike messages modified in chats. Users can update the caption while preserving existing views and reactions, but the feature is limited to the text accompanying a status update and does not allow changes to the original media.
Users can edit a status caption from the Updates tab by selecting their published status and choosing the Edit caption option or tapping the pencil icon displayed alongside the caption.
The feature is being rolled out gradually to selected Android beta testers, with broader availability expected in future stable releases, although WhatsApp has not announced a timeline for a wider rollout.
