At least 11 people were killed and 46 others injured when a bus collided with a truck late Friday on a highway in Brazil's central-western state of Mato Grosso, Brazil's federal highway police said Saturday.

Among the injured, eight sustained minor injuries, 26 were in moderate condition, and 12, including the truck driver, were in serious condition, according to state news agency Agencia Brasil.

The accident occurred near the city of Lucas do Rio Verde, about 360 km from Cuiaba, the state capital. The bus was traveling from Cuiaba to Sinop, a key hub for Brazil's agribusiness industry.

Civil police are investigating the cause of the accident.
