American Airlines flights resumed Tuesday evening after a brief IT outage disrupted connectivity for some of the airline's systems, prompting a temporary nationwide ground stop, the airline said.
The Federal Aviation Administration said Tuesday evening that all American Airlines flights were under a nationwide ground stop due to a systemwide IT outage.
"Systems are coming back online now and flights are departing again. We put a temporary ground stop in place while our teams worked to resolve the issue," American Airlines said in a statement later on the social media platform X.
American Airlines is the largest airline in the United States measured by total passenger volume and daily flights, according to AirAdvisor, a legal tech service for flight and baggage compensation.
