Kuwait's Directorate General of Civil Aviation announced the activation of its emergency plan at Kuwait International Airport after Terminal 1 (T1) was targeted by Iranian drones and missiles.
Directorate spokesperson Abdullah Al Rajhi said that the relevant authorities immediately began responding to the incident according to established procedures and plans to ensure the safety of staff and passengers and secure airport facilities.
According to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Al Rajhi added that flights have been suspended and diverted to alternative airports until further notice, pending the completion of necessary security and technical procedures and confirmation of the airport's readiness to resume operations.
He explained that technical and specialized teams have begun a comprehensive inspection and assessment of the damage to facilities and operational systems, in preparation for taking the necessary steps to repair them.
Earlier, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense announced that a number of hostile drones targeted Terminal 1 at Kuwait International Airport as part of the Iranian aggression, causing significant material damage to the terminal and injuring several people who received necessary medical treatment.
