After bringing under control the fire that affected two ships in Damietta Port on 29 July 2026, the Egyptian Cabinet announced in an official statement that: “Following the containment of the fire that broke out on two ships in Damietta Port on 29 July 2026, and after the concerned authorities conducted preliminary investigations into the incident, it was determined that the fire resulted from a drone.
No party has claimed responsibility for the incident. The relevant authorities continue to complete investigations to uncover the circumstances of the event and to take the necessary measures to safeguard Egypt’s interests and national security.
